Barbecue Sauce Recipes
Honey Molasses BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
1 cup honey
1/4 cup molasses
1 cup ketchup
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
1 tablespoon meat tenderizer
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon minced garlic
1/4 cup steak sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
Directions
In a medium bowl, stir together all ingredients until well blended. Cover, and refrigerate until ready to use.
Smokey BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
2 cups ketchup
2 cups tomato sauce
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 1/4 cups red wine vinegar
1/2 cup molasses
4 teaspoons liquid smoke
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
Directions
In a large saucepan over medium heat, mix together all ingredients.
Reduce heat to low, and simmer for up to 20 minutes. Brush sauce onto any kind of meat during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
Apple Smoke BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
1/2 cup applesauce
1/2 cup ketchup
2 cups packed brown sugar
6 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions
In a medium bowl, mix applesauce, ketchup, packed brown sugar, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic salt and ground cinnamon. Use the mixture to marinate ribs in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before preparing as desired. Also use for basting the ribs while cooking.
Raspberry Steak Sauce
Ingredients
2 tablespoons raspberry jam
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
3 drops hot pepper sauce
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Directions
In a saucepan over high heat, blend raspberry jam, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, malt vinegar, hot pepper sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil over high heat, reduce heat to low, and simmer 10 minutes, or until thickened.
Blackberry BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
1/2 cup blackberry preserves
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/8 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
Directions
In a medium bowl, mix together blackberry preserves, ketchup, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, mustard powder, and red wine vinegar. Use to baste pork or beef ribs while grilling.
BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 dash hot pepper sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
In a small saucepan over medium heat, stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, hot pepper sauce, garlic powder, mustard powder, and salt. Bring to a simmer. Allow to cool slightly.
Vinegar Based BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
1 cup cider vinegar
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Directions
In a small bowl, combine the vinegar, salt, cayenne pepper, crushed red pepper flakes and brown sugar. Mix well and allow ingredients to mesh for about 4 to 8 hours before using.
Simple BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
Directions
In a medium bowl or bottle, combine the vinegar, ketchup, water, sugar, salt and chili powder. Mix well and store in the refrigerator until ready for use.
Tangy BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/2 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons molasses
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup cold water
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Directions
Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat, and saute the onion until tender and golden brown. Stir in garlic. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, molasses, and brown sugar. Cook and stir 5 minutes.
Mix in ketchup, cold water, and cornstarch. Reduce heat to low, and continue cooking 10 minutes, until thickened.
Maple-Orange BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic, minced
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 slices lemon
1 cup real maple syrup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Directions
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove lemon slices before using.
America's Best BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
2 cups ketchup
2 cups tomato sauce
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 1/4 cups red wine vinegar
1/2 cup molasses
4 teaspoons hickory-flavored liquid smoke
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
Directions
In a large saucepan over medium heat, mix together the ketchup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, wine vinegar, molasses, liquid smoke and butter. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, celery seed, cinnamon, cayenne, salt and pepper.
Reduce heat to low, and simmer for up to 20 minutes. For thicker sauce, simmer longer, and for thinner, less time is needed. Sauce can also be thinned using a bit of water if necessary. Brush sauce onto any kind of meat during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
