Why do we have fireworks on the 4th of July?
Explosive pyrotechnics were invented by the Chinese—who are still the largest manufacturer and exporter of the fun stuff—in the 12th century. Early American settlers arrived with a love of fireworks already ingrained.
Fireworks have been part of the 4th of July since the beginning. The first Independence Day was celebrated in 1777 and, yes, fireworks were included. Since then, the displays have only gotten bigger and more elaborate.
Honoring the Men and Women in the Military
No celebration of our freedom could be complete without saluting the brave men and women who volunteer to serve us all by protecting our freedoms. They are my heroes!
Do you know a serviceman or woman who is returning from active duty? Why not create a welcome home banner just for them? You can even create welcome home banners that are specific to a particular military branch: Air Force; Army; Coast Guard; Marines; Navy.
